Crossing khardungla pass: when you are going to nubra from leh, don’t stop for too long at khardungla top. because at the top the oxygen level is less, so its better to spend time at khardungla top while coming back from nubra valley, because by that time your body will be more adjusted to the high altitude. you have to stay overnight in nubra, it is a nice place to relax and get immersed in different culture. Nubra valley was part of silk route, you can do camel safari and visit some beautiful monasteries and villages around this beautiful oasis.
What to do when you get AMS:The most widely medicine used for AMS is acetazolamide (Diamox®). Usually symptoms resolve with rest and painkillers (paracetamol or ibuprofen) within 24 hours. If symptoms do not resolve or if symptoms become worse, move down (descend). It is common that even a short descent and rest will improve symptoms significantly.
